Change to FTE-based Discounted Software Ordering
Departmental software ordering will be moving to the Texas A&M University IT Self-Service online Service Catalog.
The new IT Service Catalog will provide a user-friendly interface to request IT services and monitor progress of your orders. It will provide considerable efficiency to the Texas A&M Software Center by eliminating manual entry of printed order forms submitted by customers. However, similar to other online software vendors, the IT Service Catalog shopping cart functionality does not accept fractions when ordering licenses.
Beginning September 1, 2015, for software licenses based on a department's FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) count, the ordered amount will be rounded down to a whole integer.
Partial FTEs will still be used to calculate the total FTE count for licenses. For example, part-time faculty should be counted as one-third (1/3) of an FTE and part-time staff as one-half (1/2) of an FTE for Microsoft licenses.
We will be sending more information about the IT Service Catalog as we get closer to go live. We strive to offer greater convenience with the new online IT Service Catalog and look forward to continuing to serve you.
